Sachsen Classic 2007

186 classic cars impress in unique spectator backdrop

Between the 16th - 19th August, Bosch Automotive Tradition entered the 5th Saxony Classic event with 3 car teams and supporting advertising campaigns. The starting flag waved in Zwickau, was followed by fabulous stages to the Sachsenring, the Erz Mountains, and then into Saxon Switzerland (Sächsische Schweiz) and Bohemian Switzerland (Böhmische Schweiz), until the cars finally arrived at their destination at Volkswagen's Transparent Factory in Dresden. The route was lined by thousands of excited spectators from Germany and the Czech Republic - particularly on the hilly sections, where the old timers really had to huff-and-puff their way slowly upwards. Tricky and some secretive time trials made it an exhilarating challenge for the participants. Half of the trial on the way to Krasna Lipa took place on Czech territory, and half on German territory.

The ambitious Bosch teams put up a brave fight in their historical cars, despite starting off in rainy conditions. The team had a varied assortment of cars, ranging from the Porsche 356 Speedster, the Mercedes-Benz 170 D and the renowned Bosch Isabella made by Borgward. However, it was the Hungarian racing team driving an Italian model - the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Corsa - who took the honours.
